The acclaimed Kurt Cobain documentary film,
About a Son, will make its television debut on
the Documentary Channel this Sunday, Feb. 20. The airing coincides with what would have been
the late Nirvana frontman’s 44th birthday.
Beginning that same day, the film will be
available for viewing in its entirety at the Documentary Channel’s website.
About a Son was first screened at the
Toronto International Film Festival in 2006.
The film is comprised of audio interviews
with Cobain conducted by writer Michael
Azerrad for his book, Come As You Are:
The Story of Nirvana. Cobain’s voice is set
against a backdrop of footage shot in areas
of Washington State that Cobain called home – mainly Aberdeen, Olympia and Seattle. Music
from a host of Cobain’s favorite artists – including Queen, Iggy Pop, Mudhoney and
R.E.M. – is included in the soundtrack.
